Learning About Our Wavy Brains Together

As I reflect on my ADHD diagnosis 14 years ago and where my journey has taken me since then, one of the biggest things I wish I had done was learn about ADHD on a deeper level as soon as I was diagnosed. Instead, I leaned into the stigmas I already knew from the cultural conversation, took my new meds, and kept living life. What I didn't realize at the time was that when you have ADHD, it doesn't just affect one part of your life (like work, as I primarily thought)—it touches everything. How you parent. How you work. How you take care of yourself. How you talk to yourself. And yet, it feels like so many of us are left trying to piece together solutions on our own, watching all the TikTok videos and Instagram stories, collecting random tools and strategies, and hoping something sticks.

When Theresa Garvin of Thriving Families and Sara Englis of Empowered Healthy Living approached me to collaborate on an in-person workshop, we were immediately on the same page about two things:  the importance of continued learning & connection. We knew we wanted to create an event where ADHD isn't treated as just a productivity issue or a childhood diagnosis but as a dynamic, lifelong journey that shifts with time, environment, and even hormonal changes.

That's why we're hosting From Chaos to Calm—a Boston-area in-person event designed to bring the ADHD community together to talk about what really matters, no matter where you are on that journey:

  • How to navigate ADHD in family life without constant stress and overwhelm

  • How to work smarter, not harder, by leveraging your unique strengths

  • How to support your brain and body with nutrition and wellness strategies that actually make a difference

The Power of Connection

One of the most unexpected impacts of ADHD is how lonely it can feel. ADHD can feel isolating, especially if you've been diagnosed later in life. Many of us are moving through life with busy brains, trying to fit into a world that wasn't built for us. If you're a parent, you might be raising an ADHD child while still figuring out how to support yourself.

That's why human connection is at the core of our event. Learning about ADHD isn't just about getting the "right" strategies—it's about understanding yourself and how ADHD specifically impacts you. By meeting people who are managing some of the same challenges, you gain more than just insights—you gain community.

Because when you connect with other ADHDers:

  • You don't have to explain why you struggle with things that seem "easy" to others—you're simply understood.

  • You can swap real-life strategies that actually work for ADHD brains.

  • You get encouragement, validation, and accountability without judgment.

  • You start to recognize your strengths, not just your challenges.

We don't want this workshop to feel like another thing on your to-do list. We want it to feel like a day of clarity, connection, and real, practical support. If that sounds like something you need, we'd love for you to join us.

Below is more information on the event, but please don't hesitate to reach out to me personally if you have questions about it (Lindsay@TheWavyBrain.com).
